Adobe Photoshop CS6 Beta Highlights & VideosAdobe is showing off their upcoming Photoshop CS6 graphics and image editing software by offering a free beta version. It’s got a new UI and a whole bunch of cool new features, including Camera RAW 7.0, real video editing, new blur tools, powerful new text tools and an updated crop tool, to name a few. If you’re interested in previewing Photoshop CS6, it’s available as a free download on the Adobe Labs Web site. Of course, since it’s a beta version, it’s not final and you will also be helping Adobe test and polish the final version of Photoshop CS6. And you get a taste of what’s to come, pretty much ensuring that you won’t be able to live without it once Adobe makes the final version available.

Adobe Lightroom 4 First Impressions

Adobe Lightroom 4 First ImpressionsYesterday, Adobe announced the final version of their powerful Lightroom 4 photography workflow and editing software. There are a lot of significant improvements to Lightroom 4 but the most important change is the new price. In the past, Lightroom has sold for US $300 but Adobe lowered the price to $149 and $79 to upgrade from a previous version. It looks like the $79 upgrade price is also available to Lightroom 1 and 2 owners. With more and more photographers using Lightroom as their one and only digital photo editing program, the aggressive new pricing is should make Lightroom 4 the de facto do-it-all photography software for almost all serious photographers. Most of the improvements were announced with the Lightroom 4 beta, including the addition of new Book and Map modules, better video support; with soft proofing and enhanced selective adjustments added to the Develop module.

Test Drive The New Adobe Lightroom 4 BetaThere’s exciting news for Adobe Lightroom users. Adobe has released a public beta version of Lightroom 4. It’s available as a free download to anyone who wants to download and install it. You don’t have to have a current version of Lightroom installed to use it. Of course, it is beta software so it’s a work in progress and you may encounter problems. It also won’t update your current Lightroom catalog to Lightroom 4. Lightroom 4 is only meant for testing so you should really only use it on copies of your photos. That said, if you want to get a closer look at what Adobe has planned, there’s no better way to do that than installing the beta software and playing with some of your photos to find out what it can do. Adobe has released a series of short videos about the Lightroom 4 beta (see below) and I’ve watched them all to learn more about what we can expect from the new software.
