Hyperdrive
I dropped by to see what’s new with the Sanho Hyperdrive family, and found a new model on the stand. The new model is the COLORSPACE O on the left. Next is the hyperdrive colorspace, then the hyperdrive space and the HD80.

I thought my hyperdrive space was fast, the new COLORSPACE O will copy from memory cards even faster. Plus a load of useful features, while still fitting in my pocket. Orientation sensor for landsape/portrait, card scan and image recovery, calendar view in the browser.
I saw photos of a new model prototype; like the HD80 in form factor but with battery tray instead of loose AA batteries, with colour screen instead of mono, and with a HD tray to swap drives. I’ve always been a little nervous of putting all my eggs in one backup basket, and copy my files to the laptop each night. This swappable drive bay will let you make multiple backups without buying multiple hyperdrives.
Expected features: an image browser

No surprise here, but see how the display is rotated to match the orientation? This works in all modes and makes displaying portrait or landscape images simple.
Unexpected feature: calendar browser view (shown right)
With a count of the images on each day, and then click-through to the images, it’s an easy way to find what you did last week without having to navigate through folders.
Unexpected feature: card scan
As well as scanning the card for errors, it can also scan for deleted images. Remember the instant just after you formatted the card where you realised you hadn’t copied the images?
That’s the OhNoSecond after you press the button, and realise that you haven’t got the laptop with you in the field and you just have to not use that card until you recover the images.
I really hadn’t expected to find this function in a pocket image store.
Copying is fast at 1GB per minute, and battery life is amazing at 120GB of copying. A nice way to measure it when you’re using it to backup your memory cards. For security while copying it can verify the contents to check the copy was correct.
