Great news. I’m anxious to see some video podcast reviews of this lens in action by professional photographers.

I didn’t post this announcement and just noticed that this is an f/2.0 lens. I will look into price and availability. The Tamron 60mm f/2.0 lens looks like it will be an excellent choice for APS-C digital SLR owners who want either a portrait or a macro lens. Or both, for that matter. The 50mm prime has been used for portraits with APS-C DSLRs since the cropped format cameras became available. But the 50mm focal length isn’t quite as flat as might be desired. 60mm should be perfect. The f/2 aperture also looks like an excellent compromise. It’s fast, but not so fast as to make the new lens cost a fortune - at least I hope not.

Now that I’ve really noticed it, I’m looking forward to seeing what this lens can do.
