Pentax Optio W80 Waterproof Digital Camera
Pentax introduced the first waterproof digital camera in 2005 - the 5-megapixel Pentax Optio WP. Five Optio W cameras later, Pentax announces their latest and greatest – the Pentax Optio W80. The Optio W80 increases resolution to 12 megapixels and adds shock resistance, cold resistance, a 5x wide-angle zoom lens and waterproofing has been increased to handle depths up to 16 feet (5 meters).

Olympus has announced the latest addition to its waterproof line, the Stylus-550WP Digital Camera. The Olympus Stylus-550WP Digital Camera is perfect for users who want to take images of their aquatic adventures or just for everyday pool use with the easy to use underwater scene mode. The Stylus-550WPÂ features 10 Megapixels, Intelligent Auto Mode, and Face Detection. Olympus Stylus Tough-8000 & Stylus Tough-6000 Digital Cameras
Olympus has announced two new digital cameras in their Tough Series, the Stylus Tough-8000 and the Stylus Tough-6000. These cameras are waterproof, freezeproof, shockproof, crushproof and shakeproof. The 12 megapixel Stylus Tough-8000 can be used 33 feet underwater, survive a 6.6-foot drop, and withstand 220 pounds of pressure and freezing temperatures. The 10 megapixel Stylus Tough-6000 can be used 10 feet underwater, take a drop from 5 feet, and is perfect for everyday adventures. Both cameras feature Tap Control which makes it easy for skiers and divers to control key settings without removing their gloves.
Pentax Optio W60 Waterproof Digital Camera

Looks like I’m going to have to update the Outdoor and Waterproof Digital Camera Guide I wrote a few weeks ago. Today, Pentax announced a new entry in the waterproof / outdoor digital camera category. The new Pentax Optio W60 has a 10-megapixel sensor and can submerged up to 13 feet for as long as 2 hours. The 5x internal zoom lens has a 28mm (35mm equivalent) wide end and the camera can also be used at temperatures below freezing. Among other improvements, the new Optio W60 also has Face Detection and sensitivity up to ISO 6400. Looks like Pentax has been paying attention to the competition. These are significant improvements over the Optio W30 we reviewed last year and I look forward to testing the new Optio W60.
