Canon EOS 7D Ghosting Problem

Canon EOS 7D Digital SLR Yesterday there was a steady stream of blog posts and discussions on forums and social networking sites about a “ghosting” issue with the new Canon EOS 7D digital SLR. I’m not exactly sure who discovered the problem but I first saw it in a Twitter post linking to a British Journal Of Photography news post (read the BJP post). The gist of the problem is that when you use the camera in burst mode, subtle remnants of a previous image can end up in the subsequent frame. Canon has acknowledged the problem and say they’re working on a firmware fix.

Canon EOS 7D Firmware Update - Version 1.0.9

Canon EOS 7D Firmware Update Canon announced a firmware update for the EOS 7D today. The firmware changes improve Live View auto focus, address video color problems and fix a flash-related shutter release problem. I’ve been using the 7D for a few weeks now and to the best of my knowledge I haven’t experienced any of the problems this firmware update addresses. So I’ll probably wait for the next firmware update. But if you’ve experienced any of the problems listed above or you just like to have the latest firmware, it can be downloaded from the Canon Web site.

Like the other Zeiss ZE lenses, it incorporates a CPU and data contacts for communication with the camera body. The Distagon T* 2/28 ZE is ideal for still photographers looking for a fast, general purpose wide angle lens. It is also well suited for the growing number of videographers who use the Canon EOS 5D Mark II or the Canon EOS 7D and need a lens with superior manual focusing control and minimal ‘breathing’. Canon EOS 7D Beta Camera Studio Sample Photos

Canon EOS 7D Studio Sample PhotosThese high-resolution studio sample photos were taken with a pre-production unit of the new 18-megapixel Canon EOS 7D digital camera and the new EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens at a focal length of 55mm. All sample photos were shot as RAW + JPEG in Aperture Priority mode at f/8.0 using the tungsten white balance preset. The high-res images are from the JPEG files because Canon didn’t send us the RAW software. When we get the RAW software we’ll replace these with images converted from the RAW files. No adjustments have been made to the JPEGs other than adding the logo and graybar.
