Canon EOS-1D Mark IV Video Preview

Canon EOS-1D Mark IV Video Preview Our friend, photographer Bob Scott, visited the Canon booth at the PhotoPlus Expo in New York, last month. He got to take a close-up, hands-on look at Canon’s latest flagship camera, the EOS-1D Mark IV. The new 1D is a 16-megapixel professional digital SLR built for speed. It has an updated auto focus system, 10 frames per second burst-rate and it now also features 1080p HD video, Below you’ll find Bob’s hands-on (sort-of) preview of the new Canon EOS-1D Mark IV.

Canon PowerShot S90 Video Preview

Canon PowerShow S90 Compact Digital Camera The new Canon PowerShot S90 showed up at my door last week. The S-Series cameras have been missing from the Canon PowerShot lineup for a few years. Essentially, the S-Series offers G-Series image quality and performance in a pocket-sized package. Like previous S-Series PowerShot digital cameras, the Canon S90 has the same 10-megapixel sensor as its big brother, the G11. For people who want G11 image quality on the trail, in their pocket, in the briefcase or in their purse, it’s the camera to have.

Canon EOS 7D Ghosting Problem

Canon EOS 7D Digital SLR Yesterday there was a steady stream of blog posts and discussions on forums and social networking sites about a “ghosting” issue with the new Canon EOS 7D digital SLR. I’m not exactly sure who discovered the problem but I first saw it in a Twitter post linking to a British Journal Of Photography news post (read the BJP post). The gist of the problem is that when you use the camera in burst mode, subtle remnants of a previous image can end up in the subsequent frame. Canon has acknowledged the problem and say they’re working on a firmware fix.

Nikon D3S vs. Canon EOS-1D Mark IV

These two powerhouse pro digital SLRs were announced within a week of each other. They both cost about $5000, both have HD video, fast capture rates and a ridiculously high ISO 102,400 sensitivity. It’s impossible not to wonder which one is the better camera. So I thought it would worth the effort to, as closely as possible, do a back-to-back comparison of the Nikon D3S and. the Canon EOS-1D Mark IV.

Canon EOS-1D Mark IV Pro DSLR Announced!

New Canon EOS-1D Mark IV Professional Digital SLRCanon is calling their latest EOS-1D digital SLR the “ultimate multimedia imaging solution.” The new Canon EOS-1D Mark IV has a 16.1-megapixel APS-H (1.3x crop factor) CMOS sensor and captures full-resolution RAW images at 10 frames per second and 1080p video at 30, 24 or 25 frames per second. The new 1D has a standard maximum sensitivity of ISO 12,800, expandable to ISO 102,400. Most important to the sports photographers and photojournalists who make their living with the 1D series, the new EOS-1D Mark IV has an improved 45-point auto focus system that increases the number of ultra-sensitive cross-type AF sensor points from 19 to 39, and has “significantly improved” AI Servo II predictive auto focus programming.

Canon EOS 7D Firmware Update - Version 1.0.9

Canon EOS 7D Firmware Update Canon announced a firmware update for the EOS 7D today. The firmware changes improve Live View auto focus, address video color problems and fix a flash-related shutter release problem. I’ve been using the 7D for a few weeks now and to the best of my knowledge I haven’t experienced any of the problems this firmware update addresses. So I’ll probably wait for the next firmware update. But if you’ve experienced any of the problems listed above or you just like to have the latest firmware, it can be downloaded from the Canon Web site.

Canon EOS 7D Sample Video And Experience

Canon EOS 7D Digital SLR With Video I was impressed enough with the pre-production Canon EOS 7D that Canon sent me a few weeks ago that I pre-ordered one from my local pro shop (Pictureline). Since I picked it up last week I’ve been hustling to put the auto focus and video mode through their paces. Based on the EOS 7D studio tests I shot with the pre-production camera Canon loaned me, I’d already decided the image quality was a solid improvement over the EOS 50D. So my main interests are seeing how much improvement they’ve made with the auto focus, and playing with the video.

Canon EOS 7D Beta Camera Studio Sample Photos

Canon EOS 7D Studio Sample PhotosThese high-resolution studio sample photos were taken with a pre-production unit of the new 18-megapixel Canon EOS 7D digital camera and the new EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens at a focal length of 55mm. All sample photos were shot as RAW + JPEG in Aperture Priority mode at f/8.0 using the tungsten white balance preset. The high-res images are from the JPEG files because Canon didn’t send us the RAW software. When we get the RAW software we’ll replace these with images converted from the RAW files. No adjustments have been made to the JPEGs other than adding the logo and graybar.

Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS, EF-S 15-85mm IS & EF-S 18-135mm IS Lenses

Three New Canon Lenses Along with the new EOS 7D announced last night, Canon is introducing three new lenses, the EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM with Hybrid IS Technology, EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM, and the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS. The two zooms are nice additions to Canon’s EF-S lens line, designed for APS-C sensor digital SLRs like the EOS 50D, the T1i/500D, and the new EOS 7D. They offer new flexibility for crop sensor Canon DSLR owners, increasing the zoom range on both the wide and telephoto ends of the spectrum.

Canon EOS 7D Preview

18-Megapixel Canon EOS 7D Digital SLR With HD Video Rumors about the Canon EOS 7D have been bouncing around the Web for quite a while. The speculation can stop now - the announcement has been made. Surveying the features, specs and build, the new EOS 7D is sort of cross between the EOS 50D, 5D and EOS-1D lines. It has an 18-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor with expanded sensitivity to ISO 12,800. It’s faster than its predecessor, the EOS 50D, with an 8 frames per second capture rate. And yes - it captures video - full 1080p HD at 24, 25 or 30 frames per second.
