Optics manufacturer Carl Zeiss has announced a new line of manual focus prime lenses for Nikon SLRs. The eight new Carl Zeiss ZF.2 lenses allow full automatic exposure control with compatible Nikon DSLR and 35mm SLR cameras. That means photographers who want to use the excellent Zeiss lenses will no long be restricted to using only manual exposure - aperture priority, shutter priority and program will now also work with the new Zeiss ZF.2 lenses.

Lensbaby Fisheye & Soft Focus Optics
Lensbaby announced two new additions to their Optic Swap System, the Fisheye Optic and Soft Focus Optic.
The new Lensbaby Fisheye Optic allows photographers to turn their Lensbaby Composer or Muse into a fisheye lens by swapping out the installed optic and dropping the new Fisheye Optic into the lens. The Fisheye Optic has an ultra-wide 12mm focal length and aperture settings ranging from f/4 to f/22. The Lensbaby Soft Focus Optic works with Lensbaby’s Creative Effects SLR camera lenses, the Composer, Muse and Control Freak. Tamron has announced a $25 mail-in rebate offer on two of their newest lenses, the SP AF17-50mm f/2.8 XR VC Di II LD Aspherical IF (model B005) and SP AF60mm f/2.0 Di II LD IF 1:1 Macro (model G005). Canon Announces New Tilt-Shift Lenses TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II and TS-E 17mm f/4L
Canon will be introducing two new Tilt-Shift lenses at PMA this year - the TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II and the TS-E 17mm f/4L.Tilt-shift lenses are ideal for photographers who need absolute control over depth-of-field and perspective. Architecture photographers use them to ensure straight, parallel lines in photos of buildings, and product photographers use them to get maximum depth-of-field and accuracy in commercial product photos. The new Canon TS-E17mm f/4L lens is especially exciting since has the widest tilt-shift angle-of-view ever offered in a 35mm / full-frame SLR lens (that I’m aware of, anyway).

New Sigma 18-250mm DC OS HSM Lens
Sigma Corporation announces a new superzoom lens
January 15, 2009 The Optically Stabilized (OS) lens sports a 13.8 times zoom ratio. Sigma’s new lens features a wide focal length range from 18mm to 250mm at F3.5-6.3 with a minimum aperture of F22. Equipped with a HSM (Hyper-Sonic Motor), a minimum focusing distance of less than a foot and a half at all focal lengths, and included petal type hood this is potentially an all around performer for the photographer with a wide range of needs who does not want to be changing their lens frequently.
