Fujifilm Finepix F200EXR - Image Quality vs. Resolution

Fujifilm F200EXR Digital Camera It seems that digital camera manufacturers are finally starting to let go of megapixel marketing. How many of us really need a 15-megapixel point-and-shoot camera, anyway? Isn’t everyone starting to figure out that we’re sacrificing image quality for more resolution? A few enlightened camera makers are starting to offer cameras that choose overall image quality over increased resolution. A good example is the new Fujifilm F200EXR digital camera. It’s built around a new 12-megapixel Super CCD EXR sensor and offers three capture modes so you can choose between maximum resolution, low noise, or increased dynamic range. The Super CCD EXR sensor is housed in a pocket-sized body, with a 5x 28-140mm (equivalent) zoom lens, 3-inch LCD, and sensor shift image stabilization. Based on the specs and sensor concept, this could be my next pocket point-and-shoot camera.

Fujifilm A150 Digital Camera - 10 Megapixels For Under $150

Fujifilm A150 Digital Camera Add Fujifilm’s new entry-level A150 to the growing list of sub-$150 digital cameras. The A150 is a 10-megapixel camera with a 3x optical zoom lens, a 3-inch LCD display and movie mode - all at an MSRP of $129.95. If you came to me in 2001 and told me I would be able to buy a camera like this for under $200 in a few years, I would have laughed in your face. But there it is. Lots of people are suffering from clunky, chunky, and just plain crappy digital cameras. This camera (and others like it) is for them - it’s simple, small, and it’s going to blow away that camera they paid $400 for five years ago.

Fujifilm Announces Film Cost Increase

Will Increased Film Cost Make Holdouts Switch To Digital?

FujifilmYesterday, Fujifilm announced they would be raising the prices of all photographic film and paper products as much as 20%. The higher pricing us attributed to the rising cost of raw materials and as well as oil, which affects shipping costs. PhotographyREVIEW.com has actually seen an increase in the popularity of film photography in the past year. In fact, there are community members who are switching from digital to film because they like the process and quality of film photography. But you have to wonder if the higher cost of photographic media will make them think twice about film. Especially at a time when digital camera manufacturers are having to compete harder and the price of digital SLRs is so low. When a digital SLR can be had for well under $1000 (US), paying $8 to $12 for a roll of film and then paying for processing will likely make digital look even better.
