Sony announced the new Cybershot DSC-W220. This 12 megapixel camera features Intelligent Scene Recognition, Dynamic Range Optimizer, a 2.7-inch LCD screen, Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 4X optical zoom lens with 30 millimeter (equivalent) wide angle view, Optical SteadyShot, and Smile Shutter. Images can be stored in the 15MB internal memory and an optional Memory Stick media card.

This week, Ricoh announced their newest high-end compact digital camera, the 12-megapixel GX200.

We in the States probably don’t give Ricoh the attention they deserve, but they are to be commended for doing their best to create the grail that so many of us seek. Apparently, they’ve got a lot of things going for them in the camera usability department. The GR and GX-series cameras get solid reviews on the web, and they seem to have a strong following of satisfied customers.

Canon EOS Rebel XSi - Much More Than A Beginner Camera

Canon announced their latest entry-level digital SLR, the 12.2-megapixel EOS Rebel XSi, at the annual PMA tradeshow this January. Last week, when Adobe released the update for Lightroom 1.4.1 with support for the Canon EOS Rebel XSi, I decided to see if I could buy one. None of the big online camera dealers listed it as available. But my hunch proved right when I got lucky at my local big box electronics store and snatched up their only XSi kit. I have a mountain bike festival coming up in a week and rather than wait for Canon to send me an XSi, I figured I’d just buy one so I could test it at the bike event.
