Pentax Announces K2000 DSLR, New Lenses, And New Flash
Today, Pentax announced a new entry-level digital SLR, the K2000. The Pentax K2000 camera has a 10.2-megapixel sensor, 2.7-inch LCD, ISO 3200 sensitivity, 3.5 frames-per-second frame rate, sensor dust removal, a 5-point auto focus system, and Pentax’s sensor-level Shake Reduction system. The camera is designed for people making their first move from compact digital cameras to digital SLRs. It has an “ultra compact design” and Auto Picture Mode which automatically sets the most appropriate scene mode from the Portrait, Landscape, Action, Night Portrait, and Macro modes.
The Pentax K2000 is being sold as an entry-level digital SLR system with the new smc PENTAX DA L 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL lens, and the PENTAX AF200FG Auto Flash. The K2000 system will be available in November, with the DA L 18-55mm AL lens and AF200FG flash, for $699. Pentax is also introducing a second DA L zoom, the smc PENTAX-DA L 50-200mm f/4-5.6 ED lens; and two new high-performance lenses, the smc PENTAX-DA★ 60-250mm f/4 ED[IF] SDM zoom lens, and the PENTAX-DA★55mm f/1.4 SDM prime lens.
