Panasonic LUMIX FX35 - Real Wide-Angle Point-and-Shoot

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX35 Digital Camera

Final Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX35 Review >>

Finally - a pocket-sized digital camera with a real wide-angle lens! I saw the new Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX35 at the PMA tradeshow last month and have been looking forward to testing it ever since. A few days ago the FX35 arrived and I thought I’d give you guys a little preview.

The FX35 is a 10-megapixel pocket-sized digital camera with a Leica 4x optical zoom lens and Panasonic’s excellent MEGA O.I.S. optical image stabilization system. But what makes the FX35 special is the 25mm wide end (35mm equivalent) of the zoom range. This is the first and currently only available compact digital camera with a lens this wide. Most compact cameras are only 35mm on the wide end of the zoom. And that’s not really very wide at all. One of my main complaints about most compact digital cameras is that the lenses aren’t wide enough. So I’m excited about testing the Panasonic Lumix FX35. I’ve already shot quite a few photos with it and am very pleased with the lens. Below you’ll find some sample photos and our studio test photos. Read our final, detailed review of the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX35!

hi you test the camera with Iso 80 ???!! strange in other site they said its have 100 iso not 80

Thanks for pointing that out. And yes it is very strange. I thought you caught me in a mistake. But I just looked at the EXIF data for my FX35 studio tests and the image really does appear to be shot at ISO 80. This is going to require a little more investigation. It’s possible (but not likely) that I accidentally mixed up an image from another camera. I am going to reshoot the tests and see if I still get an ISO 80 image. The menu doesn’t even offer an ISO 80 choice so I can’t imagine how it would be possible!

Hi, How would you compare the Panasonic FX35 to the FS-5. Which one would you recommend.

  5. Photo-John Says:

    Abdul-
I reshot and updated the studio sample photos. There is no ISO 80 setting on the FX35 and I really have no idea how I got that photo. In any case, the sample photos are new and correct now. Thanks again for pointing out the error :-)

    John
