A New Level of Image Quality
Nikon has announced the release of the D3X FX-format digital SLR. It features 24.5-megapixel extreme resolution for dynamic range, detail, color depth and sharpness perfect for fine art, high fashion, commercial, and landscape photographers.
Whether creating gallery prints, catalogs, magazine covers, or billboards, the large 5.94-micron pixel size and high signal to noise ratio produces vibrant images with breathtaking image fidelity while reducing lost highlights and shadows, and ensuring smoother tone reproduction with minimized noise.
The D3X also features a 3.0-inch super density LCD screen, a rugged shell with moisture, dust and shock resistance, shooting speeds of up to five frames-per-second (fps), and 14-bit files, that when processed are approximately 138 MB.
The Nikon D3X will be available for an estimated selling price of $7999.95 starting December 2008.

$9,500.00 in Canada. Double ouch!! I could dream of owning a D3…but this is too pricey to even dream about.

It is too expensive at $8000 US. The ISO 100 to 1600 is very limited (The D3 has ISO 6400). If you want a studio camera
save up a buy a true medium digital format camera. What is another $8000 over a five year amortization cost? If your a successful studio owner you can afford the best.

Even Hitler thinks it’s way too expensive. Shoehorn a sony sensor into a D3 and add 5000 to the price tag! Way to go Nikon! I switched to the C years ago due to N dissapointments - glad to be gone.
