Pentax adds to the growing number of outdoor and swimming pool-friendly digital camera with the new Optio WS80. The Pentax Optio WS80 is a 10-megapixel camera with a 5x internal zoom lens, 2.7-inch LCD, 720p HD video and it’s waterproof to a depth of 1.5 meters (approximately 5 feet).

The Pentax Optio WS80 is a less expensive, simpler alternative to Pentax’s recently announced 12-megapixel, waterproof, shock-resistant and cold-resistant Optio W80. In the press release, Pentax calls the Optio WS80, “the newest contender in the durable, affordable digital camera category.” The 5x internal zoom lens has a focal length of 35-175mm (35mm equivalent) and the camera features Pentax Shake Reduction (SR) technology with Pixel Track SR to help keep photos sharp in low light. The WS80 also has Face Detection, Smile Capture, Blink Detection and the Pentax Auto Picture mode, which automatically analyzes the subject and conditions and chooses the best of eight scene modes. It comes in two color schemes - pink and white for her, and tough guy black and orange for the dudes.
The new Pentax Optio WS80 digital camera has a suggested retail price of $249.95 and should be available in September.

“…and tough guy black and orange for the dudes”
I’m a tuff guy, but Black and Decker colors don’t work for me on a camera. And neither do the pink and white colors work for me either.
At least Canon offers a selection of different faceplate styles with their Powershot D10 for those who like to personalize their equipment.
