Manfrotto Targets Booming Consumer Camcorder Market With New 585 MODOSTEADY Three-in One Stabilization System
Stabilizer is the Latest Addition to Manfrotto’s Popular MODO Family of Consumer Supports

Ramsey, NJ (October 18, 2007) – The digital revolution has given consumers the ability to expand their creativity in ways never before possible. Whether it’s a family video, a child’s winning goal at a soccer game or budding videographer experimenting with creating his or her own movies, consumers of all skill levels and ages have fully embraced digital imaging. To enhance their imaging experience and improve the look and feel of their videos, consumers can turn to Manfrotto, a world leading manufacturer of support products, and its new, versatile stabilization system – the 585 MODOSTEADY. A three-in-one, hybrid camera stabilizer, MODOSTEADY is the latest addition to the popular Manfrotto MODO family of support products for compact point and shoot digital cameras and camcorders.

Featuring a unique, patented design, MODOSTEADY is compact and folds flat for effortless portability, ensuring that it will fit in any bag or case. Essentially a hybrid support accessory MODOSTEADY offers three different methods of stabilization. Thanks to its innovative design concept, MODOSTEADY can serve as a counterbalance stabilizer, provide shoulder support, and double as a table top tripod.

With the extension arm fully extended, the bottom bi-injected soft-hard rubber foot operates as the counterbalance mechanism and is completely adjustable in order to find the proper position and weight to correspond with the center gravity of the camcorder in use. The rubber foot and extension arm can also be folded up and used as a shoulder pad, turning the MODOSTEADY into an extension of the user’s body. Switching between the counterbalance and shoulder mounted mode is also easy, thanks to the quick release camera plate, which rotates 180 degrees. Additionally, for table top use, users can fold up the extension arm and then open the MODOSTEADY’s comfortable rubber handle, turning the stabilizer into a tripod for both a camcorder or small point and shoot digital camera.

Street price: under $200

The MODOSTEADY is available in the US through Bogen Imaging dealers. For additional product information and to locate a Manfrotto dealer, please visit www.bogenimaging.us

Can this be used as a shoulder support for a digital SLR , Like a Sony alpha 100 or would it be to far of a streach from your eye to camera .

I gotI bought it a couple of weeks ago and it is simply a great .
The shoulder brace is easy the floating position takes a while to practice but afterwards it is really helpful. I followed my nephew riding a bicycle and walked very quickly (almost ran) whilekeeping his figure perfectly centered and was surprised by the excellent results. He was satble at the middle and the background had good depth and motion which made it look as if he was riding very fast. If you want to get good results it is essential to balance the right amount of weight for your camera. Highly recommended if you like taking video and want to improve you home movies.
