Professor Kobre’s Lightscoop
We haven’t tried Professor Kobre’s Lightscoop. But we sure like the look of it. And at $35 (MSRP), the price is right. If you (or someone you’re buying a gift for) have a digital SLR or compact digital camera with a pop-up flash, the Lightscoop allows you to make much nicer photos by bouncing light from the flash off the ceiling. Bouncing flash is an old-school photographers trick. But usually it’s done with hotshoe flashes with tilting heads. Professor Kobre’s Lightscoop will change indoor flash photos from pictures of white ghosts in a black cave (you know what I’m talking about) to soft, natural photos in warm, natural-looking light. It might be the best $25 you ever spend on a photo accessory.

Thanks to Calanan for suggesting Professor Kobre’s Lightscoop for this guide.

This is a great idea John! Now I can just point my wife to this link for ideas while still keeping a tiny little bit of surprise in Christmas.
