Mini Tripods
Every photographer needs a mini tripod. Mini tripods are easy to pack, easy to keep around, and they’re especially good for point-and-shoot cameras. A mini tripod may not be able to support ten pounds of camera and lens. But they’ll make self-portrait, group shots, and spontaneous nighttime photos possible because they’re so small and easy to keep around. Every photographer should have one. A couple of excellent mini tripods are the Joby Gorillapod and the Ultrapod.

This is a great idea John! Now I can just point my wife to this link for ideas while still keeping a tiny little bit of surprise in Christmas.
