Casio Exilim EX-G1 - It’s A G-Shock Camera!

Add a new digital camera to the growing list of waterproof and shockproof cameras designed for outdoor enthusiasts. Casio comes out swinging with the world’s thinnest waterproof and shockproof digital camera. The 12-megapixel Casio EXILIM EX-G1 can be dropped up to seven feet (2.13 meters) and submerged ten feet (3 meters) underwater. The EX-G1 is the newest member of Casio’s rugged “G” line of electronics products, which began in 1983 with the shockproof G-Shock digital watch.

Fujifilm announced the new Remora Slave Flash Kit that is compatible with Fujifilm’s full range of digital compact cameras and underwater housings. The Remora Flash is not only suited to daytime diving, but its performance is also essential during night dives with a powerful guide number of 20. It also has an extra wide angle flash beam angle of 60 degrees so a bigger area can be illuminated underwater to meet the needs of both macro and wide-angle photography. The Remora Flash features manual light output range of 10% to 100%, so the amount of flash can be fine tuned to achieve a correct exposure for the perfect shot. It is depth rated to 55m/180 feet. New Nikon AF-S DX Micro Nikkor 85mm VR - Compact Macro Lens

Along with the new D3S digital SLR announced on Tuesday, Nikon also introduced a new DX-format macro lens. The Nikon AF-S DX 85mm f/3.5 Micro Nikkor VR II lens is designed to be used with APS-C sensor Nikon digital SLRs like the D5000, D60, D300s and D3000. The 85mm focal length is effectively converted to 127.5mm (35mm equivalent) on a DX-format camera body. The “Micro” in the name means it’s designed for close-up photography. In this case, that means a minimum focus distance of 9 inches and a 1:1, life-size reproduction ratio.

2009 Epson Red Sea “World of Underwater Images” Competition

The 2009 Epson Red Sea “World of Underwater Images” event will take place from November 9-14th in Eilat, Israel. The competition is open for all underwater photographers, including amateurs, professionals, videographers and more. It has two main competition categories, Images of the World and Eilat Shoot-Out. For Images of the World, underwater photographers can submit images that were shot anytime and anywhere around the world, without attending the competition. The deadline for registration and receiving entries is October 15, 2009.
