October 22 - 24, 2009: The PDN PhotoPlus Expo tradeshow bills itself as “the most important event in the photo industry.” That might be overstating things a bit, but it is the largest and most important consumer photo tradeshow in North America. Every fall, photographers gather at the Javits Center in New York City where they get to take a closer look at new digital cameras, lenses, tripods, camera bags, software, studio lighting and more. There are also more than 100 photography workshops, covering everything from marketing your photography to improving all kinds of photography skills and techniques.

Kingston announced the new MobileLiteG2, which is the second generation of the popular MobileLite Flash card reader. It is a small, portable reader that allows easy data transfer between Flash memory cards and PC or Mac. It features retractable covers on each side to protect the USB connector and the Flash memory cards from damage. SanDisk has released the 32GB Extreme SDHC card, the world’s fastest 32 gigabyte SDHC card on the market.
The 32GB Extreme SDHC card features Class 10 performance, up to 30 megabytes per second (MB/s) read and write speeds, large storage up to 2500 RAW images, and operation at extended temperatures ranging from minus 13 F (minus 25 C) to 185 F (85 C). Eye-Fi introduced the Eye-Fi Pro, a new 4GB wireless SDHC memory card with RAW image support. With the Eye-Fi Pro, users can automatically upload images straight from their camera to their computer and the Web with no router or Internet connection required. This year’s Photo Marketing Association tradeshow, otherwise known as PMA, takes place at the Las Vegas Convention Center from March 3rd to 5th. Every spring all the major camera, photography software and photo accessory manufacturers assemble to show off their latest wares. PhotographyREVIEW.com has attended the show every year since 2000 and this year is no exception. This is our chance to visit with camera makers, ask tons of questions, and get a look at as much camera gear as possible. Let us know what you want to see and learn. We’re there for you! We’ll be meeting with all the main manufacturers, taking pictures, shooting video and writing about all the cool new digital cameras and photo gear.

Today, SanDisk announced its new faster and smaller ImageMate memory card readers, the ImageMate All-In-One reader and the ImageMate Multi-Card reader.
The All-In-One memory card reader can reach speeds of up to 34 megabytes per second (MB/s) when using a SanDisk Extreme IV 45MB/s CompactFlash card. It supports almost every memory card format currently available, such as SD, SDHC, miniSDHC, microSDHC, MMC, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro Duo, xD and CompactFlash. The SD Association has announced a new Secure Digital memory card specification. The SDXC (eXtended Capacity) memory card will be able to store as much as 2 terabytes of data with read/write speeds of 104 MB per second and a target speed of 300 MB per second. That’s right - 2 TB of storage and 300 MB per second transfer on a tiny little SD memory card like the one you have in your point-and-shoot digital camera. For photographers, this could be the biggest announcement from the 2009 CES tradeshow.
