2009 PhotoPlus Expo

October 22 - 24, 2009: The PDN PhotoPlus Expo tradeshow bills itself as “the most important event in the photo industry.” That might be overstating things a bit, but it is the largest and most important consumer photo tradeshow in North America. Every fall, photographers gather at the Javits Center in New York City where they get to take a closer look at new digital cameras, lenses, tripods, camera bags, software, studio lighting and more. There are also more than 100 photography workshops, covering everything from marketing your photography to improving all kinds of photography skills and techniques.

Lexar Media announced its Full-HD Video memory cards, a new line of video memory cards designed for extended standard and high-definition video capture. They are available in SDHC and Memory Stick PRO Duo formats. The Lexar SDHC Full-HD Video memory card is available in 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB capacities and can record up to 90, 180, and 360 minutes of content, respectively. The Lexar Memory Stick PRO Duo Full-HD Video memory card comes in capacities of 4GB and 8GB and can record up to 90 and 180 minutes of content, respectively.

Lexar expands its Kodak-branded memory cards with the new 16GB Kodak Secure Digital High-Capacity (SDHC) High-Speed Card.
It is speed-rated at 60x, capable of minimum sustained read and write speeds of 9MB per second which can capture full motion video without interruption.

New CompactFlash Cards with an Increased Speed of 233x
Today, Lexar announced its new Professional 233x CompactFlash Memory Cards which have an increased speed of 233x over the line’s previous speed-rating of 133x.
The new cards are UDMA (Ultra Direct Memory Access) enabled and capable of minimum-sustained read and write speeds of 35MB per second. They will greatly improve digital imaging workflow and are available in 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB, giving professional-level performance for a wider range of digital SLR users.

New 16GB Secure Digital High Capacity and CompactFlash Memory Cards Enhance Video- and Photo-Capturing Capabilities of Flash-Based Digital Cameras, Camcorders and Digital SLRs
Lexar has further increased the capacity of its widely popular Platinum II flash memory card line by introducing a Platinum II 60x 16GB Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) card and Platinum II 80x 16GB CompactFlash® (CF) card. The Platinum II SDHC memory card is speed-rated at 60x, capable of a minimum sustained write speed of 9MB per second, while the Platinum II CF memory card is speed-rated at 80x, which represents a minimum sustained write speed of 12MB per second. The new, high-capacity cards give value-conscious video and photo enthusiasts the ability to shoot longer and faster, while taking advantage of new higher-resolution and high-definition digital camcorders, digital SLRs and point-and-shoot cameras. Capacity and Performance of New Lexar Professional UDMA 300x 16GB CompactFlash Card Improves Digital Photography Experience
Lexar announced a new memory card that provides an ideal combination of increased capacity, professional-level performance and reliability, the Lexar Professional UDMA 300x 16GB CompactFlash (CF) card. It is UDMA-enabled (Ultra Direct Memory Access), resulting in exceedingly fast performance and has a speed-rated at 300x, which represents a minimum sustained write speed of 45MB per second. The high capacity of the card allows photographers to store more images and shoot for longer periods without interruption. Lexar will be displaying the Professional UDMA 16GB cards at Photokina 2008 at stand F022 E023 in hall 04.1.

Lexar’s Professional UDMA card reader is a compact, collapsible memory card reader with slots for SecureDigital and CompactFlash memory cards. It has a USB 2.0 interface and can read the new UDMA CompactFlash cards as well as high-capacity SDHC SecureDigital memory cards. I’ve been using the Lexar Professional UDMA reader in the office and on the road for a few months now and recently tested it against a couple of other card readers.
