Last week at HP’s Annual Imaging and Printing conference, this quote immediately grabbed my attention: “I find myself taking more pictures than ever before, but seeing fewer of them…”

If this quote describes you too, then apparently we’re in good company. Sure, we can see every shot from someone’s vacation online, but online isn’t necessarily the best way to see or present photographs. Online is great for editing and quick viewing and it’s where most shots will end up, but for more meaningful images it’s just a step on the path to offline photo-enjoyment.

SanDisk Fills the Need for Large-Capacity, High-Performance Memory Cards

SanDisk announced its new 32GB Extreme III Compact Flash Memory Card, perfect for the recent release of Canon’s EOS 5D Mark II DSLR camera. The EOS 5D needs large-capacity memory cards to support these added capabilities of high-megapixel still photograph and High Definition (HD) video capture. SanDisk memory cards provide the capacity required to store the resulting data.

Double Capacity and Increased Speed

Sigma announced the new 14 megapixel DP2 compact digital camera. It builds on the success of the Sigma DP1, with a 24.2mm F2.8 lens, equivalent to 41mm on a 35mm SLR camera, FOVEON X3 direct image sensor that is used in the Sigma SD14 digital SLR, RAW format recording, a large 2.5” TFT color LCD monitor, and a pop up (manual) built-in flash.

Two new tele converters for Sony mount telephoto lenses that support HSM

Sigma announced two APO Tele Converters for the Sony Mount, the APO TELE CONVERTER 1.4x EX DG and the APO TELE CONVERTER 2x EX DG. These tele converters are capable of maintaining the HSM function of telephoto lenses such as Sigma’s APO 70-200mm F2.8 II EX DG MACRO HSM and APO 50-150mm F2.8 II EX DC HSM while increasing the focal length by a factor of 1.4x or 2x.

Two new fisheye lenses for Sony and Pentax fittings

Sigma has announced two new fisheye lenses, the 4.5mm F2.8 EX DC Circular Fisheye HSM & 10mm F2.8 EX DC Fisheye HSM.

The 4.5mm F2.8 EX DC Circular Fisheye HSM is the first 180 degree circular fisheye lens designed for use with APS-C size digital SLR cameras. The fast F2.8 maximum aperture makes it ideal for low light photography like Astrophotography and Aurora photography, while the minimum focusing distance of 13.5cm/5.3inch and maximum magnification of 1:6 make it particularly useful for close-up photography.
