Canon Tilt-Shift Lens Demo Video

Canon Tilt-Shift Lens At PMACanon announced two new tilt/shift lenses just before the annual PMA tradeshow. The TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II and the TS-E 17mm f/4L Tilt-Shift lenses were both on display at Canon’s PMA booth, although they wouldn’t let us mount either one on smartwombat’s Canon EOS 1Ds because they’re still in prototype form. They did let us play with them on their cameras, though. I got one of the reps to give me a little demo, which I shot a video of. It shows all the different movements and we talk a little about what tilt/shift lenses are for.

Most of us don’t need professional tilt/shift lenses like these. And at $2199 and $2499 (24mm and 17mm, respectively) even fewer photographers can afford them. But they’re neat to play with, all the same. If you are a professional product, architectural or landscape photographer, then a tilt/shift lens might be a very good investment. They offer perspective and depth-of-field control that most photographers can’t even comprehend. I often wish I had one when I doing studio photos of cameras for our digital camera pro reviews.

I think Paul(smartwombat) is planning his next acquisition!

Thanks for the video posting. From the descriptions from Canon, this was what I had expected in range of movements, and was glad to see the ‘demo’.

Now to just get one on a camera and spend some time in a ‘favorite’ building making some other wise nearly impossible shots.
