This morning KODAK announced earnings and financial information via a conference call and webcast. Eastman Kodak Company Chairman and CEO Antonio M. Perez and CFO Frank Sklarsky in an Earnings Conference call that lasted a few minutes over an hour reported on Kodak’s First Quarter - 2009 financials.

Noise Ninja has announced version 2.2.0 of their standalone noise reduction software. Besides the new standalone Noise Ninja, they also have a 64-bit version for 64-bit Windows / Photoshop CS4 users, Photoshop plug-in version 2.32, and Aperture plug-in version 2.02.

Samsung has announced two new compact digital camcorders, the SMX-C14 and SMX-C10.

The SMX-C14 and SMX-C10 feature Samsung’s Touch of Color, a 230,000-dot, swiveling 2.7-inch wide LCD screen, 10x optical zoom, Hyper Image Stabilization, Samsung’s Active Angle Lens, play-edit-sharing program and unique features, such as time-lapse recording, animated thumbnails and a versatile charging system. The SMX-C14 includes 16GB of internal flash memory which can record over six hours of footage directly to its built in memory. It is expandable via an SD/SDHC memory card. I discovered Professor Kobre’s Lightscoop during the Holidays while I was putting together our Cheap Gifts for Photographers guide. It was suggested as a possible fit and when I looked it up on the Web I was impressed enough to include it in the guide. Basically, the Lightscoop allows cameras with pop-up flashes and hot shoe mounts to bounce the flash off the ceiling for better indoor portraits. It’s a really easy and inexpensive solution for the generally poor quality of direct flash lighting.

The Center for Fine Art Photography is accepting entries for their two photography contests, a Portfolio Showcase and a Documentary exhibition. Eligibility ranges from U.S., international, professional and amateur photographers who are working in black and white or color, using traditional or digital methods or elements of both processes.
